COSTA MAYA, MEXICO

We traveled with friends to the port city of Costa Maya, in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico. This small town is one of Mexico's newest cruise ports and is located near the border of Belize. It features a modern tourist shopping mall, and the central plaza features saltwater pools with swim-up bars. The town is isolated and generally open only to cruise ship passengers. It is also located near less-popular Mayan ruins including Chacchoben and Kohunlich.
